Renovation bonus 2024 - New subsidies for thermal renovations in multi-storey residential buildings
The BMK is massively increasing its subsidies with the renewable heat package to promote the rapid replacement of fossil fuel heating systems. The new subsidy package, which includes a significant increase in the assumption of costs for replacing heating systems to an average of 75% through federal and state subsidies and a tripling of the flat-rate subsidy for thermal building refurbishment, marks the start of a major refurbishment campaign. These steps are key contributions to achieving the national climate targets.
The following improvements are planned for the “multi-storey residential building” sub-category:
The Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) is continuing the “Renovation bonus for private individuals” funding campaign for multi-storey residential buildings for a further two years. This supports the thermal refurbishment of buildings and represents a decisive step on Austria’s path to climate neutrality by 2040.
Funding is available for thermal refurbishments in multi-storey private residential buildings that are more than 15 years old. Funding is available for comprehensive refurbishments to climate-active or comparable standards as well as for the refurbishment of individual window components.
In addition, green roofs and façades on buildings in the town center are being promoted. This funding applies either in the case of simultaneous comprehensive refurbishment to a climate-active or comparable standard or for existing buildings that have already been refurbished, provided they meet the requirements for comprehensive refurbishment to a climate-active or comparable standard.
