Research results from the Center for Alpine Building (ZAB) published as a book
Within the framework of the Research and Transfer Center Alpine Building, the FH Salzburg (Department Green Engineering and Circular Design) and Research Studios Austria FG (Studio iSPACE) have worked on three focal points between 2018 and 2022: Energy and resource optimization, climate-adapted construction and post-densification. Through interdisciplinary research in these areas, contributions have been made to the internal development of settlement areas.
The most important results have now been summarized in the form of a book. The aim is to give potential partners an insight into the solution and application-oriented approach and to whet their appetite for joint developments in energy-saving technology and sustainable urban development. In the next three years, the results will not only be continued and deepened, but also implemented.
The book includes various content in the following research areas:
Intelligent energy systems
The researchers developed simulation models for thermal networks that take into account the use of structural storage masses and the effects of renovation measures.
Intelligent building envelopes
Freely available design documents for a timber frame and solid construction system were developed, especially for building additions. In addition, a promising prototype for prefabricated facades with component activation made of solid wood was designed.
Simulation of settlement systems
The modeling of redensification and building land potentials in the sense of land- and resource-saving settlement planning as well as the simulation of land management in municipalities by means of geoinformatics formed a further focus.
