New position paper from the Life Cycle Building interest group on the topic of “Roof space utilization”
Under the leadership of GRÜNSTATTGRAU, the position paper for value-added roof space utilization was written – a guide for decision-makers, the real estate industry and municipalities.
The aim of the paper is to provide basic information and data for a value-added-oriented system decision when changing or extending the use of existing and new roof areas.
RENOWAVE welcomes the “Pionierstädte Österreich”
Several cities in Austria are allowed to bear the status of “Pionierstädte”. The BMK supports the necessary capacity and competence development in the cities within the framework of public-public cooperation (ÖÖK) with two million euros per pioneering city. In addition, customized funding formats are being developed in the areas of research, technology and innovation.
Renovation bonus 2024 – New subsidies for thermal renovations in multi-storey residential buildings
The BMK is massively increasing its subsidies with the renewable heat package to promote the rapid replacement of fossil fuel heating systems. The new subsidy package, which includes a significant increase in the assumption of costs for replacing heating systems to an average of 75% through federal and state subsidies and a tripling of the flat-rate subsidy for thermal building refurbishment, marks the start of a major refurbishment campaign. These steps are key contributions to achieving the national climate targets.

This highest state award for inventions and trademarks is presented by the Austrian Patent Office and the Ministry of Climate Protection and shines a spotlight on particularly innovative achievements
Project Reallabor Gebäude – For climate-neutral, needs-oriented and affordable housing
AEE INTEC, one of the founding institutes of the RENOWAVE.AT cooperative, launched the “Reallabor Gebäude” project together with the Österreichische Wohnbaugenossenschaft (ÖWG) and StadtLABOR Graz. The aim of the project, which started in autumn 2022, is to develop a comprehensive refurbishment concept for a pilot ÖWG property that can subsequently be applied to the entire ÖWG portfolio.
Research results from the Center for Alpine Building (ZAB) published as a book
Within the framework of the Research and Transfer Center Alpine Building, the FH Salzburg (Department Green Engineering and Circular Design) and Research Studios Austria FG (Studio iSPACE) have worked on three focal points between 2018 and 2022: Energy and resource optimization, climate-adapted construction and post-densification. The most important results have now been summarized in the form of a book.

New financial equalization crucial for successful heat transition
Vienna. March 21, 2023. The upcoming negotiations on financial equalization between the federal government, states and municipalities are of particular importance for climate protection. RENOWAVE. AT, the innovation laboratory for climate-neutral renovation of buildings and districts, is therefore calling on the financial compensation negotiators to put the right measures in place to achieve a successful heat transition.
